The idea for Hostel Buddies came in 2006 from a group of friends who loved to travel and explore new places. During their journeys, they made many friends around the world and wanted a fun way to keep in touch with their new "buddies". They also thought it would be great to share travel experiences and tips with others.

In particular, the founders of Hostel Buddies noted the sense of camaraderie they encountered staying in Hostels during their travels and the friends they gained from encounters with other Hostellers. Hence, Hostel Buddies focus on the very social Hosteller-community. Hostel Buddies is an online community geared towards those who love to travel, stay in touch and meet new friends, and share their experiences/ insights with others.
